The Son of God provided salvation through His humiliation on earth.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 4:15
Central Truth
Jesus, the One and only Son of God, came here to dwell with us. Jesus stepped down from His throne in heaven where He was seated next to the Father and welcomed the limits of human skin and bone. He chose to experience humanity in all its weakness and frailty.
Key Question
Why Did Jesus coming as a man show humility? What does this reveal about God?
Keep in Mind
You may have students in your group who come from a wealthy or privileged background. But you also likely have those who don’t. They may wrestle with feeling as if God doesn’t understand them. But Jesus understands all of us. He is the King of kings—the Lord of all creation. Yet He wasn’t kingly in an earthly manner; Jesus wasn’t born into a wealthy royal family. Jesus made Himself low to identify with the lowest of us. We serve a King who truly understands human struggles because He also endured them. God is approachable even to the least of us.
APPLICATION
One day, everyone will bow in worship to Jesus. How are you worshiping him now?
THE WIN
FOR THE STUDENT: We must realized worship is more than a song; it’s a lifestyle. It encompasses all of our thoughts and actions. Our entire life can be an offering of worship to God each day.
FOR THE LEADER: It can be easy to become more focused on everything around us and how people disregard Jesus’s name—even our students. But one day, every person who has ever lived will bow in worship to Christ. We get to do this now! May we never waste the breath in our lungs by praising anyone or anything else.
